In the previous post, I described the spirit and purpose of the Gutenberg Editor, the new editing experience that WordPress introduced with version 5.0.
In this post I’d like to address some confusion that was also introduced.
There are 3 editor names floating around now in the WordPress Admin dashboard! In addition to the new Gutenberg Editor and the Classic Editor (the name of the old editor, and the plugin that lets you use it) — you may have also noticed the “Block Editor.”

What are all of these editors?
Actually, it’s a lot less confusing than it seems. If you look at the three editors side-by-side, you’ll see what I mean.
Classic Editor
Gutenberg
Block Editor
That’s right. Gutenberg and the Block Editor are the same thing! Strangely, despite having such a cool and distinct name for their new editor — which appears to be the official name — they seem to want to call it the “Block Editor” inside the WordPress admin dashboard.
Well, try not to get too confused. But just for clarity, on this website we will refer to it as the Gutenberg Editor.
